Avocados
Evergreen tree in nature, size varies by variety. What they need: Drainage and mulch. Amend heavy & clay soils. Water: keep moist but not wet. Deep water less often; no sprinklers. Fertilize: Feed young trees lightly. Mature trees need 1 pound of Nitrogen per year; half in spring & half in summer. Check chlorosis w/ iron or zinc chelates. Pollination: Combine type A bloomer w/ type B for best fruit production.
Hass
Flower type A. Harvest: Feb. to Oct. Hardy to 30 degrees F. Med.-large tree. Excellent quality fruit. 7-12 oz. fruit Medium bumpy green skin turns black when ripe. Excellent for home or orchard use.
Holiday
Flower type: A. Bears Aug. to July Small tree type = 12 ft. The fruit holds well on the tree for a prolonged harvest. 15 –30 oz sized fruit. Ideal for small yards Bears Labor Day to New Years.
Little Cado
Flower type A or B. Harvest: May to Sept. Hardy to 32 degrees F. Small tree / 12 ft. Use as Dwarf backyard tree, patio planter, or espalier. Good tasting fruit, 8-14 oz. pyramid-form shaped fruit w/ medium thin skin. A or B flower.
Guavas
Pineapple (Feijoa)
Large multi-stem shrub or tree. Spring bloom with summer fruit. Flowers are edible also. Flower petals are sweet, use in salads, jellies & jams. Use fruit for juice or salad.
Beaumount (Psidium)
Large shrub/small trimmed tree. Bears late summer into fall. Good eaten fresh. Use in jellies, purées & juice drinks. Red skin. Self fruitful.
Lemon Guava ( Psidium lucidum)
Basically the same as Beaumount except larger, wider & more open growing & lighter flesh.
